Conditions for Teal

The only condition to begin a Teal journey resides in the company owner(s) and the CEO. Owner(s) must fully support the initiative, in good and bad time. The CEO must personally drive the effort. The culture of a company, small or large, is always a reflection of the boss’s values and her leadership capabilities.

What kind of boss is ready for Teal? A confident, competent and inspiring leader with high level of consciousness and no desire to control.  She trusts her people, considers each an adult and requires no co-dependent parenting. She believes in collective leadership – combined intelligence far surpasses a single individual’s wisdom. Needless to say, an egocentric and impulsive leader from Red stage or a status quo driven and controlling leader from Amber stage cannot lead a Teal organization.

While there is only one condition to begin a Teal journey, there is another condition to achieve and sustain a Teal organization. Employees must abandon their “child to parent” relationship typical in hierarchal organizations, and step up as responsible leaders ready to make decisions and be held accountable. There is no more victim mentality and no more finger pointing.  Everyone can influence decisions that affects him. This cannot be achieved overnight. However, the beauty of Teal organization is, when Wholeness is implemented well, it serves as a safe space for personal and professional development. In Teal organizations, people will learn a whole new healthy way of relating to self and others, contrary to what they have experienced in hierarchal organizations.

Fortunately, most millennials and many enlightened people from other generations are no longer content with the old way of working. They are ready to be themselves, to have autonmy, to do what they love and to pursue purposes with positive impact. That is great news.
